Lots of people enjoy owning a dog. Dogs can bring lots of happiness and love into our lives. Raising a puppy at home can result in a ton of work. This new puppy has to be trained! You will soon have a well-trained dog if you use the above advice.
Have a good reward system when training your dog. Reward your dog with some treats right after they obey an order. Dogs will not understand why you are rewarding them if you wait too long to do it.
Feeding Schedule
You need to establish regular feeding routines for your dog. Teaching your dog to realize that when you place its food bowl down, it will be removed within 10-15 minutes, will help it understand that there is a feeding schedule to stick to. Your dog will soon become accustomed to his feeding schedule and eat quickly.
Make sure that you set a calm tone whenever you set foot in a room where your dog is. Play time needs to be a distinctive time you initiate. Don't acknowledge your dog when you enter the room. By doing this, you will be able to create a controlled environment in which you determine when and how play time begins.
You will have to repeat commands several times before your dog learns it. You might have to repeat the same exercise up to fifty times before your dog remembers it. Being patient while trying the same task or command will allow your dog to understand it.
When house training your dog, keep in mind that whatever you feed him must come out. In order to foster routine toilet habits, give your dog good food between 2 and 3 times daily on a firm schedule. You can then schedule your walks at the right times to prevent unwanted accidents.
Avoid reinforcing negative behavior. Don't give your dog any attention or treats when he is being bad. For instance, avoid rubbing the dog's head every time they jump up when you get home.
Teaching a dog how to roll over isn't too hard with a few treats in your hand. Start by commanding the animal to lie down. Then hold the treat at the side of the dog's head and move it around it's face to the other side. This will cause your dog to use their nose to follow the treat. As a result, your dog will roll over. Each time he sways to one side, tell him to “roll over”. Keep doing this until the treat is no longer needed. Make sure you are patient because this is likely to take several attempts. However, your dog will eventually learn this command.
After reading this article, you are now prepared to train your puppy. Practice patience and reward your dog with tons of positive reinforcement. These tips will not be mastered overnight, but you and your dog will soon get there.
